Fruits of his labour

Yes! He got straight As in the UPSR!

He could finally taste the fruits of his own labour. The few weeks of sweat and tears were worth the accolade he earns.  He did not really do consistently well in some of the subjects (especially the national language) but with close guidance and monitoring, he peaked in the end!

It was not a smooth-sailing journey as he left his vernacular school for a national controlled school with higher standard in the national language subject.  In about one and a half years, he mastered the language and scored a distinction in the first major examination of primary school.

Good job

Just like his growth chart, he is within the top 10 percentile in his school in terms of academic performance this time. He scored an average of 92%, ranking 11th out of 218 students. He has improved by only about 5% in average score but jumped from a position of 67 last year.

For his commendable improvement, Mummy has promised to buy him a Transformer robot which he demanded to have it on the same day he brought home the report book. We finally agreed that he will get it only during the weekend when we take him to the store.

If only I put in more effort

For the first time since he started school, he scored 100% in BM. Generally, it's no big deal that a primary student manages to score full marks in their test. But, for my kids, it is worth 'shouting' about it. Despite compliments from people close to me that my kids are smart, this doesn't show very prominently in their academic results.

He got 76% in BM in the first term. And that was without my 'interference' in his studies. Despite devoting full-time in guiding other children, I neglected my own kid.

So, setting some time for him, I gave him some guidance after the first term. I also gave him a few exercises as well as flash cards. Not to say that I am not giving credit to his tuition teacher who gave students many past year worksheets to do, if only I can spend more time with him, he would definitely be an A-scorer, a strong one.

Drama school for the kid

This was what we have been waiting for since last year. After so many weekends of sacrificed sleep and long distance travelling, this is it. Not to mention, the days of FUN for W.

This certificate should be good enough as a stepping stone to build his language proficiency and confidence. Despite this, we are bidding farewell to Helen O'Grady as Daddy feels that Taman Tun is too far just for a drama class.

So,Mom gotta search for a nearer place for W.

A good start in Maths

He got 92.5% for his first Olympics Mathematics assessment since he joined last month.

According to him, he tops his class which has less than 10 students. Whether he is the top or not, it doesn't really matter. Getting such a good score is a very encouraging start for him.

I hope it's not a fruitless move to sign him up in this class.

UPSR results today

It's as though I had sat for the exam and awaiting the long-awaited results. It reminds me of my anxiety umpteen years ago. Eagerly waiting for the bombshell.

It's already nineteen minutes past 10 am. The results should have been ready for collection at the school's office by now. I don't think H has gotten his results yet. It will take the teacher a while to get the results and distribute them to the anxious students. Whatever it is, I told H not to call me only if there's good results. I shall wait for him to come back from school to convey the good news (I'm keeping my fingers crossed real tight). But, in my heart, I wish he would call.
